Can Tesla's other white seats really stay clean?
The unusual white upholstery is perhaps such a popular choice among Tesla owners because it matches the automaker’s futuristic vibe. Like the all-white interior of the spacecraft in Stanley Kubrick’s epic film, 2001, Tesla’s all-white interior accentuates an otherworldly aesthetic.

As good as they look (and a little groovy), Tesla owners usually worry about the stains these seats can attract—especially from dyed denim (like blue jeans).
Since the driver’s seat gets the most use of any car, it is the one that is more prone to catching stains from jeans than any other seat in the car. Tesla started switching to vegan leather seats To stay focused on its mission of sustainability in 2015.
The white seats are part of the White Interior Premium package. It costs $1,000 more than the MSRP for the Tesla Model 3 and Y and $2,000 as an option for the Model S and X.

A Tesla owner recently asked the Reddit community about how to clean or remove stains from their Tesla Model 3 white seats. u/streakybcn posted a photo of the top of his denim-stained white driver’s seat on which several other Tesla owners took their advice.
The most common cleaning solution for white seats recommended by current Tesla owners was baby wipes. However, the frequency should be no more than once a week to avoid damaging the vegan leather with too much cleaning. That said, is there an inexpensive (and safe) way to clean these seats?
Yes! According to the cleaning section of the owner’s manual, Tesla officially recommends using only a soft cloth moistened with water and non-detergent soap as the best way to clean a white seat.

“Wipe spills and chemical residue from interior surfaces as quickly as possible using a soft cloth moistened with warm water and non-detergent soap. Wipe gently in a circular motion. Then dry using a soft, lint-free cloth Wipe,” Tesla notes in its owner’s manual.
In addition, Tesla says, “Although seating surfaces are designed to remove stains, Tesla recommends regular cleaning to maintain performance and a new appearance. From fabrics like indigo-dyed denim.” Treat dye transfer immediately. Avoid contact with harsh chemicals, including some cosmetics. Never use cleaners that contain alcohol or bleach.”
To demonstrate this in more detail, YouTube channel “The Tesla Sheep” recently showed how to clean a Tesla white vegan leather seat using just water, soap, and a soft cloth (video below). It is cheap, effective, and does not damage the protective coating of the seats.
