Many German politicians take pride in the Tesla Giga Berlin. Federal Transportation Minister Volker Wissing also shared his thoughts on the recent Model Y delivery event, saying it was an important milestone for the future of Tesla’s factory in Germany. The president of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), Hildegard Müller, echoed Wissing’s words and encouraged German carmakers not to “hide” from Tesla. The VDA President also noted that Germany’s investment in research and development of the EV car industry would make the transition from fossil fuels to electrics a success story and help set vehicle standards internationally.

“The fact that Tesla chose Grunheide shows how lucrative the German automotive industry is,” Müller said. “Germany is the automotive innovation driver for the world.”
