Elon Musk excited for Tesla Giga Berlin's first delivery, federal minister shows pride in factory

Tesla Giga is just hours away at Berlin’s first Model Y delivery event, and Elon Musk is excited to get the ball rolling. The Tesla CEO has been tweeting about the Tesla Giga Berlin and Model Y delivery event lately.

“Excited to hand over the first production cars made by Giga Berlin-Brandenburg tomorrow!” Musk tweeted.

When Tesla Germany released the official schedule for its first delivery event, it was noted that Elon Musk may be making an appearance. Fortunately, Musk himself confirmed his presence.

His presence during the event might not come as a surprise as Musk also attended the Tesla Giga Shanghai’s first delivery event for the Model 3, where he gave a surprise dance performance. As a reminder, Musk agreed a repeat For his performance during the grand opening ceremony of Giga Berlin. The Model Y Delivery Event seems like the right time to do this.

With Elon Musk ready to go, Tesla Giga Berlin is all set for the event. Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) will also attend the opening ceremony.

The VDA President also noted that Germany’s investment in research and development of the EV car industry would make the transition from fossil fuels to electrics a success story and help set vehicle standards internationally.

“The fact that Tesla chose Grunheide shows how lucrative the German automotive industry is,” Müller said. “Germany is the automotive innovation driver for the world.”

Tesla’s mass layoffs reached the Autopilot team in San Mateo. Autopilot workers have started posting the news on LinkedIn.  People familiar with the matter told  Bloomberg  that Tesla laid off about 200 Autopilot workers from its San Mateo office. San Mateo had around 350 employees before the recent layoffs. Tesla transferred some of the San Mateo staff to a nearby facility in previous weeks.  The Autopilot team in San Mateo worked on customer vehicle data, specifically data labeling, for Tesla’s autonomous driver assistance features. According to a source, most of the employees Tesla laid off were hourly workers from the Autopilot Team. Sen. Joe Manchin blasts EV tax credit expansion, calls for hydrogen development

West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin blasted a potential expansion of the electric vehicle (EV) tax credit on Thursday, while also calling for the development of the hydrogen sector to decarbonize the transportation industry.
