New Tesla Cybertruck prototype seen with bed cover 2022
A new Tesla Cybertruck prototype has been seen at Tesla’s Fremont factory, and it has a bed cover – something that was missing in a recently spotted prototype.
We expected to get an update about Cybertruck as part of a product roadmap CEO Elon Musk said he would release as part of the company’s Q4 2021 earnings release. However, the CEO only announced that Cybertruck was delayed to “expected 2023” due to supply chain constraints.
Nonetheless, the past few months have seen a new prototype of an electric pickup truck dotted around California and Texas. In December, Tesla was seen testing a new prototype of the Cybertruck on its test track at the Fremont factory.
A few weeks later, Tesla brought a new prototype of the Cybertruck to the Gigafactory Texas. Several pictures and even a video of the updated version of the electric pickup truck have been leaked.
Earlier this month, another Cybertruck prototype was spotted at the Fremont factory after a drone came dangerously close to it.
Now that same drone pilot spotted another Cybertruck prototype at the Fremont factory, but this time he stayed far away:
There are a few interesting things about this particular scene of the much-anticipated electric pickup truck.
First, it has a bed cover – something that was missing in the most recent scenes.

It seems that some strange and uncomfortable dirt has accumulated on the top of the bed cover.
As we reported earlier, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the automaker plans to offer an alternative with solar cells embedded in retractable covers, and for technology developed to enable such an option A patent was issued last year.
The footage also shows a Cybertruck prototype next to the Model S, which gives a good size comparison.
The Cybertruck looks taller, but perspective can be misleading because the electric pickup truck looks much taller from this angle.
