Tesla Model 3 driver accidentally climbs on top of ambulance, injuring 3
On Wednesday morning, March 30, a Tesla Model 3 driver accidentally collided with the accelerator and landed on top of a Falk ambulance in the Kearny Mesa neighborhood of San Diego. Three people including the driver were injured in the incident.
The San Diego Fire Department (SDFD) tweeted the events of the incident. It happened around 9:40 a.m. on Greencraig Lane, south of Kaiser Permanente Hospital. After the driver accidentally exited the parking lot, the Model 3 drove down an embankment, crashed into a fence, and landed on a parked ambulance.
The rescue team rescued all three passengers from the Model 3. The fire department initially reported that two passengers of the Model 3 were taken to a local hospital, to which the driver refused. However, the Tesla driver later requested to be taken to the hospital. SDFD reported that all three people involved in the incident had minor injuries, and no one was harmed outside the vehicle.
The Tesla Model 3 involved in the incident also seemed relatively unaffected. However, the owner of the vehicle may have to take it for a repair of the front bumper. After rescuing the passenger, the rescue team had to figure out how to safely remove the Model 3 from the crash site. There were some concerns that removing the vehicle would damage Tesla’s battery and start a fire.
At 11:45 am, the rescue team carefully pulled the car out of the ambulance. He ran thick bars through the Model 3’s windows, using a crane to lift it off the ambulance and put it on solid ground.
