Tesla opens its 'longest' Supercharger station in the world

Tesla has opened its “world’s longest supercharger station” through a growing partnership with a French supermarket company.

There are big, big supercharger stations in the world, but apparently, there are none anymore.

Tesla is currently expanding its Supercharger network at an impressive rate.

The automaker went from 23,277 superchargers across 2,564 stations at the end of 2020 to 31,498 superchargers at 3,476 stations at the end of 2021. It is growing at 35% year-on-year pace.

However, it has been lagging behind vehicle deliveries, which have grown by 87 percent during the same period – now slowly starting to allow non-Tesla EV owners to use the network.

It also falls short of Tesla’s own goal of tripling the Supercharger network in two years.

But the automaker is still deploying new and larger stations at an impressive rate.

Most of the stations are similar in features, but we try to track down some of the most interesting ones and a new one inaugurated in France this week notable for being the “longest Tesla supercharger in the world.”

Tesla began a partnership with E.Leclerc, a supermarket in France, to open a Supercharger station at its location.

Over the past month, it launched a 16-stall V3 supercharger at the E.Leclerc Montauban location and an eight-stall V3 supercharger at the E.Leclerc Saint-Gaudens location.

This week, Tesla opened a new V3 supercharger at the E.Leclerc Beaune and it’s a 28-stall station, a big station but nowhere near enough stalls to make it the largest in the world.

However, it is configured in a way that makes it the tallest supercharger in the world, according to Quentin Vanier, Tesla’s regional manager for charging infrastructure in France (via LinkedIn).

As with all 28 stalls, it looks particularly tall in the pictures:

The station is also one of the few in France to open up access to the Supercharger network not only to Tesla owners but to all EV owners as part of Tesla’s pilot program.

We expect Tesla to continue to accelerate deployment of its Supercharger station over the coming months, particularly with its new pre-fab methodology that can deploy a new station in days.
