What trends can we see this year in the automotive space? According to Don Alcott at Go Banking Rates, “If you look at the top three automotive trends for 2022, you might think this is a page straight out of the Tesla playbook. Cars.com, a car-shopping marketplace, has listed three trends in driving has been identified. [the] consumer automotive business for the year.”

So what are these trends? There are three to watch: 1) pre-ordering of vehicles; 2) the process of buying a digital car; and 3) the electric vehicle boom. Alcott writes,Since the company’s founding, Tesla has been leading the pack in all three… [meanwhile] Other manufacturers are accelerating their processes to keep up with Tesla, and the mainstream auto market is embracing these trends.”

Customer pre-orders are starting to pop up in the auto industry. And it’s not just Tesla’s Cybertruck — Ford is taking pre-orders for its F-150 Lightning truck, too. As per a Cars.com report, “41% of new car buyers are planning to pre-order their next vehicle… [while] 16% of auto buyers have tried to pre-order and 98% of them were happy with the experience.”

According to Alcott, “In addition to placing pre-orders online, 38% of existing car buyers expect to complete the car buying process online.” Tesla initially led the trend, but traditional automakers are looking to follow in the company’s footsteps.

Arguably, the biggest trend representing the future of the auto industry is the move to electric vehicles. Alcott reports. While Tesla remains the best-selling electric vehicle in the US, led by its affordable Model 3, consumers are likely to demand even more options going forward… Cars.com reports that the number of EVs on the website Searches have almost doubled since 2020. ,
