What's Next for Tesla (TSLA) Elon Musk: 'Scaling to Extreme Size'

Elon Musk reveals what will be the main theme of Tesla’s “Master Plan Part 3”: It will be about scaling the company to “peak size.”

As we reported last week, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that he is working on “Master Plan Part 3”.

Parts 1 and 2 of the Master Plan were very important literature in Tesla’s history, which set out its plan to achieve its mission through a rough product roadmap and focus on technologies.

Not without stumbling blocks, Tesla has progressed through those plans fairly well, and now it’s approaching the end of “Part 2” — hence why Musk announced the upcoming release of “Part 3.”

Since the announcement, Tesla fans have been speculating about what might be included in the next part of the master plan.

Now Musk announced on Twitter this morning that the main theme will be “Scaling Tesla to Extreme Size”:

Key Tesla themes will be scaled to the extreme size, which is needed to move humanity away from fossil fuels and AI.

The fact that Musk is aiming for Tesla to achieve “peak size” isn’t entirely new, as Tesla has made public its goal of achieving an annual production capacity of about 20 million vehicles by 2030.

In comparison, the world’s largest automotive conglomerates, such as Volkswagen and Toyota, produce about 10 million cars per year.

But Musk’s new plan is likely to go into more detail about how to scale up manufacturing and supply chains at these levels, especially in the midst of extremely difficult global supply issues.

Interestingly, Musk also said that “Master Plan Part 3” will include sections about SpaceX and The Boring Company with Tesla:

But I will also include sections about SpaceX, Tesla and The Boring Company.

Historically, master plan blog posts were about Tesla and posted on Tesla’s website. Part 1 included a mention of SolarCity, and Part 2 contained a part about the acquisition of Tesla and the integration of SolarCity, but nothing was ever clear about a separate Musk company.

This is again starting rumors about the company “X” umbrella, which will include all of Musk’s companies under one roof. It’s an idea that Musk floated around in the past, but it would be quite complicated to achieve.

The mentions of SpaceX and The Boring Company may simply be more collaborations between companies that we have seen in the past, or the mentions may even be completely unrelated to Tesla and simply about Musk’s larger plan and How do all those companies fit in?
